Want a Deathadder in a Diamondback/Copperhead body?.......2007-12-22
Thats what I was expecting when I purchased this mouse. I'd bought a Deathadder to replace my aging Copperhead only to find that the shape didn't suit my gaming style or even the shape of my hand. I thought it had poor ergonomics despite it being made to be an ergonomic mouse. The Diamondback/Copperhead has a better shape, in my opinion, for very quick and precise gaming. It's nimble shape and small tapered base make it much easier to make precise quick movements with. The shape of regular mouses make gaming less precise because they have flat and wide bases. If you make a quick movement and need to lift the mouse you have to do it at a straight angle. It just feels more cumbersome to me after using a Copperhead so long.
Anyways. I purchased this mouse after returning the Deathadder in hopes that it would track like the Deathadder. Current laser technology can't track very fast movements. Say you wanted to turn very quickly. Well the laser will stop tracking your movement. So I hoped that this mouse would allow me to have the shape I was used too and the benefit of having a 3G sensor. Sadly the drivers for this mouse are awful and the mouse itself is one of the least sensitive I've ever used. From a technical standpoint this mouse should track exactly the same as the deathadder but it's very slow. It feels like an average mouse from years ago (similar to an MS intellimouse)
Whats worse is that it's polling rate is locked to 125hz. This is quite terrible that razer would release a mouse that has a polling rate the same as a cheap non-gaming USB mouse. You can tweak the polling rate with external software but the polling rate isn't constant.
Overall, I don't know what Razer was trying to achieve with this mouse. I feel like I've been conned and this isn't the first time I've felt that way with a Razer product.
