Pen is Hard on Your Hand.......2007-12-20
PROS:
Pen has a nice weight to it, is wireless and optical, easy to configure, and battery rechargeable. Although the battery can only be charged by plugging in the USB charger (which means you have to keep your computer on 2-3 hours for a full charge) you can use the pen while it is charging. Cursor motion is nice and smooth.
The mini magnetic docking pad allows the pen to be rested in an upright position until needed. It can also stand upright without the pad. (Would be nice if the magnetic pad turned off the pen until in use to save the battery.)
Pen has a nice hi-tech sleek design that will cause your co-workers to ooh-and-ahh, and your kids to steal it for their computer. A carrying case so I could take it easily back and forth from home to work would be nice. I don't leave this at work because it is expensive and I don't want it stolen.
CONS:
Pen is awkward to use. Holding it like a pen is tiring on the hand. Letting your hand rest on your pants or desktop rubs your skin raw. It even rubs your fingernail cuticle raw. I tried resting my arm on the chair's arm and letting my hand lightly move the pen, this caused pressure pain on my arm and elbow and my hand became numb. So far, I have not found an easy way to hold the pen and not have hand, wrist or arm problems.
This pen has the right and left buttons on the spine of the pen, in a stacked button design; right button on bottom, left button on top. The right button is fairly easy to reach, but the left button (top button) requires an awkward motion to reach it. This often results in accidently clicking the wrong item on the screen.
I have small hands and I think someone with larger hands would have an even harder time using this pen.
After using this pen, I am wondering if a mouse pen is the wrong way to go unless you're an artist or something.
An excellent Photoshop tool.......2007-08-13
I previously used a Wacom tablet when working in Photoshop but my desk space is at a premium so I haven't been using the Wacom tablet lately. When I found a review of this wireless pen mouse online I decided to give it a try. It's cheap and doesn't take up much room on my desk (no more than a fat pen or two thin pens).
It's basically a wireless mouse in the shape of a pen. While that might not sound too helpful, it actually makes it MUCH easier to make detailed selections in Photoshop. I'm as accurate with this epen mouse as I am with my Wacom tablet and the Wacom tablet is much more expensive and takes up more space.
Bottom line, if you want to make detailed selections in Photoshop for image editing then this is a great tool!
