I have the unit in operation for about a month. The unit works
as expected.
The lock is easy to install, although the install instructions
could be a little clearer. In my case it was just a case of
unscrewing the old and popping the new unit in. Removing the
bubble pack wrapping was the most difficult part.
To change codes a cover on the inside faceplate needs to be removed
by unscrewing a tiny screw (with a provided jeweler's screwdriver).
I would prefer to be able to remove the cover without an extra tool.
The outside knob protrudes quite a bit, in my case it hits a screen
door slightly. Not a biggie, but it's also not clear why it needs to
protrude so much.

Doesn't Fit on Standard Front Doors.......2007-01-15
Our new TouchPad had to be installed UPSIDE DOWN because there is not enough space for the key-pad between the doorknob and the deadbolt. We could have probably returned it and/or gone out to the store to get somehting different, but it is 0 degrees outside, raining ice and we need a doorknob! The kids think it is cool.

One fatal flaw.......2006-10-10
This is almost a really neat item. I have had one on the door from my house to my garage for around 10 months. I love the convenience of not having to dig out a key to get into the house when I park my car. What is the fatal flaw? The door can be opened from the inside with the lock locked. Conventional door knobs do not let you turn the knob with the lock locked. You could argue that this is more secure as you won't forget to lock your door. I would argue that the 167th time that you step out into your garage for just a second and then have to enter the #$*ing combination to get back in because you forgot to unlock the door first, the idea of touchpad entry into your house loses almost all of its charm.

this soundcard came with my pc, the sound itself sounds nice but it is not meant for gaming. This card causes static in programs like ventrilio and teamspeak. i looked it up and there were said to be issues with programs similar and the soundcard. After having this card for 2 years its starting to die on me. my brandnew mic will stop working and sometimes sound comes out of one speaker only. so to summerize it if you want nice sound this will work, but for gaming and more reliability get something else.

Not just this JVC camcorder, but all of them will have the "safeguard mode error" pop up and the unit will be rendered useless at that point. Just say NO to JVC.

This camera is very small, and works great. It is easy to use, and great for travelling. I am not a technical person, but I don't mind using this camcorder.
Buyer Beware -- JVC mini DV camcorders.......2006-12-26
I can tell you from personal experience with JVC mini camcorders that purchasing one is an expensive mistake. Even with a protection plan from Circuit City, Best Buy, etc., the units are EXTREMELY fragile (esp. the cassette loading/ejecting apparatus) and the now infamous "E04 Safeguard Mode" (go ahead, Google it) message will eventually appear and that will be the end of recording digital videos with a JVC mini DV camera. Further, JVC support is nonexistent with regard to these error messages and how to correct them.
This Product Will Die on You.......2006-12-23
I was very happy with this camcorder....until it died on me after 10 months. I bought this for the basketball team I coach (to tape games). It was used a total of 25 times, and then it started getting error codes. It irrepairable, and I'm stuck buying a new one. Invest in a slightly more expensive model (by a DIFFERENT company). It well worth the money.

Excellent Proformer GREAT video in any filming condition. I got 1 hour 48 mins of battery power from this camera. and all these errors that everyone is talking about is fixible. To fix just turn mode selector to manual setting then slide on the battery and hold the stop button then go to menu go to factory reset. It works because I have done it 2 times already. and jvc in japan tell me so. I bought mine there.
