Nice look and feel. Horrible performance........2007-01-19
Although the Bluetooth version of the optical pilot (now discontinued) had the same problems with battery life, it tracked much smoother than this RF version.
When my Bluetooth model stopped working recently (after about two years) I replaced it with this. I regret that decision, as I am now looking for another replacement, capable of precision control.

The only reason I didn't gave only one star is because the mouse looks slick (subjective) and has a nice grip. Other than that I'm very disappointed with the product.
To start off, it weights a lot, causing my wrist to hurt during my first week. I could call that part of my adaptation and strength building but still it was less than ideal.
Also, this thing eats batteries like a recycling bin! It was supposed to last 3 months on alkalines, but it didn't last 40 days using top branded batteries. I tried using rechargeables after that but it was even worse, around 20 days if I was lucky.
I agree with the other commenter that mentioned the weird clicking preciosion during text selections.. I felt the same way.
I have to admit that being my first cordless mouse much of the issues may be unavoidable, but if you like the lightness and reliability of your corded mouse do not switch to a cordless. At least, not to this one.
I'm going to try another cordless from another brand just because I really hate the mouse cord getting in my way.

This was the first wireless mouse I bought. At first I wasn't very used to it because the response time seems slightly different than a regular wired mouse, but now it's no big deal.
One thing that annoys me, though, is that I have a habit of highlighting everything, but sometimes this mouse won't highlight the very beginning of a line. If you don't share my weird habit, though, don't worry about it.
The rubber grip also makes your hand sweat a lot, and that's a complaint that many of the buyers of this mouse have.
Finally, the "midnight metallic" pattern of the mouse makes it look pretty cool, but if you don't really care about it, then just buy the exact same model that's just plain silver and that is much easier to find.
Overall a good, reliable wireless mouse.

For some reason Memorex seems to be producing/selling two different style DVD cases. For most of us, the simple center clip fixture which most cheap/junk cases now feature are the plague. They are difficult to lock the DVD into and tricky to dislodge. Most people break them after only a few tries. The "old" style (found in most pre-recorded feature film DVDs) have a multi-spoked wheel which centers the disc and fastens it at 3 to 5 different locations around the middle. The clear slim double cases have the prefered "wheel spoke" hub while the singles have been coming with the center clip style. LOOK BEFORE YOU BUY. Personally, I have become very cautious in my purchases from Memorex which is a shame because I use to trust them blindfolded. Memorex... are you listening?

I've never written a review on Amazon before, but I'm always eager to read what others have to say about a product I'm thinking of buying. I bought the Vidster after reading some of the reviews on here, for my daughter's 7th birthday. She had been playing with my old digital camera using the video feature and having lots of fun just taping things around the house (her included) and playing them back again.
I have to be honest and say I haven't used any of the software yet that came with this camera. What I'm disappointed in is the size of the view finder and the quality of the picture you see while taping. The view finder is approx 1x1 inch square, much smaller than any digital camera and we can hardly see what we're taping. Other reviews said the quality was very good but I just can't agree (perhaps because I'm comparing to a better quality digital camera) but if that is the case, then I'd rather have paid the extra and got my daughter her own camera with better quality pictures. I wish I'd saved my money - my daughter has hardly played with this!

I bought this toy last Christmas for my then 9 year old daughter. She loved it but was frustrated that its recording time/photo capacity is so small and the quality of the picture is sub-par. It eats batteries like crazy and inexplicably just stopped working after a few months. Much too expensive for the actual quality, especially when you can buy a real digital hand cam now for a few hundred dollars. If this toy had cost around $30.00 I would have given it a great review.

This product serves our purposes really well. It's only slightly larger than a normal digital camera, and takes plenty of footage with a large memory card. We wanted snippets of video to show parents our holiday snaps and this, whilst no good if you wanted to be a film producer, gives a decent picture and better sound than the video option on the stills camera. And for the price, you don't care if it accidentally gets dropped into the sea (except you lose your memories.) Great Great value!

I ordered this for my daughter's birthday party so the kids could videotape themselves and see themselves on TV. It was pretty fun for the first few minutes. Then it kept shutting off. I had to turn it off and turn it back on, or worse, take out the batteries, put them back in, and then turn it back on. It's pretty cute for a kid's toy, but it's not worth over $25. You need a lot of light to be able to tell what the picture is, and of course, the picture is not very clear quality, but that is what I expected.

After reading the reviews, I ordered the Vidster for my 7 year old without much research in to the product. What a mistake! The idea is great, but the reality is terrible. The memory on the camera is very, very small. He can tape only about 5 minutes max and less, of course, if he takes pictures. The original software editing disk arrived cracked. Mattel replaced it, but the second disk was inoperable as well. He used his camera off and on the entire first day and kept deleting and retaping. The batteries (4 AAs) lasted less than 24 hours. All and all, I would recommend to anyone that you skip this camera and buy a low end video camera that will coordinate with your own editing software and allow the child more taping time.
