It works, but I don't like it.......2006-06-21
Battery life seems very short. I only use Rechargables and maybe they just aren't for these lower power/long time items (unlike camera's), but I am annoyed at how often I need to change them.
Also, the unit is heavy. Of course, this is because of the batteries, but I didn't realize how much lighter my replacement logitech wired optical mouse would be. I like it much much better.
Only buy an cordless if you really need it, would be my advise.
Nice design crippled by very flawed software.......2005-12-10
I was flabbergasted that a company would release a product with so many problems, especially for a device that that uses technology that has been around for decades.
The Kensington cordless optical mouse receiver installs easily. It comes with both a USB and standard PS/2 mouse connection. The cordless mouse requires two double A batteries (which are included). Once installed, my Windows 2000 system recognized the mouse immediately.
The mouse was able to transmit from a distance of over 25 feet with no problem.
The mouse has a power-saving feature where, after a few minutes of inactivity, it communicates less frequently with the receiver. The user must move the mouse several times before "waking up" the connection. I find this perfectly acceptable, and became used to this mode within a few hours of use.
What I did not find acceptable, however, was the response and accuracy of the mouse. Using the basic Windows 2000 control panel settings to adjust the mouse speed and acceleration, there was NO SETTING that was even close to acceptable mouse performance. I spend a good 15 minutes trying various combinations, but the mouse either zoomed all over the screen with little ability to home in on a small area, or it crawled along, requiring the user to lift his or her hand several times to move the cursor across the screen.
In addition to working with the Windows control panel, I tried various mouse pads, including special optical pads with grid patterns. The mouse performed better on patterned pads, but still way outside of any usable range.
I then went to the Kensington web site ([...]) and downloaded their "mouseworks" software package. After downloading and installing the software, I ran the program. It contains a panel that allows for greater fine-tuning of the mouse rates, but I was still unable to get a setting that was close to what I wanted.
At this point I would have probably learned to live with the new mouse if it weren't for a serious bug in the mouseworks software. When I used the mouse to drag and drop files from Windows Explorer to other applications, the mouseworks software left "ghost icons" on my desktop. These ghost icons would float above all applications, so no matter what you are working on, you have these ghost icons superimposed on top.
I tried all all kinds of things to get rid of the ghost icons, including resetting my desktop background and toggling my active desktop. The only thing that worked was rebooting the machine, and that only fixed the problem until the next mouseworks ghost icon made its way to the desktop.
I contacted Kensington support. Apparently they get this question a lot, because they sent me a detailed list of instructions to remove mouse works, which included hacking the Windows registry. (There is no uninstall program for mouseworks). So now I'm back to where I started.
This was a tremendous waste of time - several hours spent trying to get a mouse to work. You can save yourself a lot of frustration by avoiding this product.
Outstanding response time........2005-04-01
And very precise movement.
I was a little skeptical of this unit at first, having designed and manufactured Logitech's product line for several years, but I was pleasantly surprised at the performance of this Kensington wireless model. Works on any solid surface, as long as its not covered with glass, and even on your lap! Nice narrow ergonomic feel, and very sporty looks with its solid silver case, a nice compliment to any home computer set up.
A bargain at $26.

Nice idea, flawed execution.......2007-10-29
We bought two of these to monitor the kids while sleeping.
One was dead on arrival, and, after a lengthy call with Motorola support, was exchanged.
The other lasted six months before suffering the same fate -- you can connect once, but subsequent connections are refused until the camera is disconnected and the battery removed and replaced.
There also seems to be a bug -- sometimes when we connect, the camera emits noises, even though the phone is monitoring, and not sending, audio. We wondered why our younger one was waking up a few minutes after we turned the camera on, until one of us was in the room when it happened.
This particularly phone system is ingenious in conception, but all of the different units have serious bugs of some sort. Moto should have done more testing before releasing it.
Cool camera.......2007-01-10
We use it for our baby. We can also talk to her at the same time. It's little limited on its perspective, but it's very handy and can be placed anywhere. We're going to get another one for our other daugter, so we can see both in their beds up close.
Works well, range could be better.......2006-11-12
I bought the SD7500 phone system so I could use this camera to monitor our baby and add the bluetooth dock to use for my cell phone calls when at home. For those two conveniences alone, I love the system.
The SD7504 camera is really easy to setup and use with the 7502 phones (I still don't know why Motorola doesn't sell a base unit with the 7502 standard!). The image quality is pretty mediocre, but is about what you would expect for such a small screen. The low-light feature works great, and the unit doubles as a great audio intercom for the room. The interface was smartly designed so that no sound is made in the room when you check the camera from a remote phone, but with a simple button press you can talk clearly through the 7504. You can definitely have some fun confusing your baby by talking to him through the 7504 while being in another room.
Summary:
Pros - Great interface, excellent quality two-way audio, easy to mount and easy to detach in "wireless" mode when you need 3-4 hours of monitoring of another area without a power cord attached.
Cons - Mediocre image quality, range is not as long as phones are. Mine didn't work with my base station on the other side of my 2000 sq. foot house, but works great when I moved the base station closer to the center of the home.
I'd recommend the product even with the small downsides.

Orion HighLight Plossls is our exclusive, premium line of 1.25" Plossl eyepieces with some noteworthy enhancements. HighLight eyepieces offer a generous 50-degree field of view (43-degree for the 40mm) and crisp, sharp images. The HighLights' 4-element optics are fully multi-coated -- every air-to-glass lens surface is multi-layer coated for the highest possible light transmission and better contrast. The lens edges are blackened for additional contrast enhancement. The machined aluminum housings of the HighLight Plossls sport a distinctive anodized finish, with grip traction knurled right into the metal. Supple rubber eyeguards shield out extraneous light and fold down for eyeglass wearers. The barrels of HighLight Plossls are precision-machined to a tolerance of +/- 0.05mm from the nominal specification, so you can be sure of a great fit in your diagonal or focuser. And of course they are internally threaded to accept filters.

Fantastic multi-purpose EP, highly recommended........2005-07-29
I'm so glad Orion decided to update the typical cheap plossl eyepiece with fully multi-coated lenses and a very solid, nice looking frame. It looks and performs as well as you could possibly hope for in an ep of this price range. Light transmission is excellent on my little 80mm refractor, and images are very sharp. Eye relief isn't bad (12mm or so, I think), and field of view is acceptably wide for a non-widefield eyepiece. I don't have any expensive, premium eyepieces to compare it to, but it easily beats out my 14mm Antares W70 in sharpness and light transmission, though not FOV. In fact, coupled with a 2.8X Klee barlow it performs just about as well as my Televue 7mm plossl, but with much better eye relief. I've really only kept the Televue because I'm too lazy to slip the barlow on and off. :)
Very Nice Eyepiece For A Good Price.......2005-02-15
I've been an active backyard astronomer for a number of years. During this time, I've probably owned a couple of dozen eyepieces. I'd rate this as a very high quality plossl. The mechanical construction is very solid. It's a good looking eyepiece. The optical performance was equally impressive. The lenses are fully multi-coated and the edges are blackened. This improves performance in several areas. Contrast is very good, there are no internal reflections and faint objects that might otherwise be invisible in a lesser lens can be seen.
I've owned several high quality TeleVue and Orion Ultrascopic Plossls. In my opinion this eyepiece is close in quality.
