American Power Conversion's Back-UPS ES 725 Broadband backup power supply offers a combination of 8 total battery-protected and surge-only outlets, effectively reserving power capacity and run time for any connected equipment that requires battery back-up while maintaining surge-only protection for your less critical equipment. Typical backup time at half load is 14 minutes (225 watts), and typical backup time at full load is 4.3 minutes (450 watts).
Power conditioning protects connected loads from surges, spikes, lightning, and other power disturbances, while dataline surge protection provides protection of connected equipment from power surges on the data lines. You can manage the UPS via its handy USB port.
The device is safety-agency approved, so it's guaranteed to work safely with the connected loads and within the environment. Audible alarms provide notification of changing utility power and UPS conditions, and automatic self-testing provides early detection of potential problems through periodic testing of the UPS components.
The unit is cold-start-capable so you'll have temporary battery power even when the utility power is out from the get-go. Resettable circuit breakers grant quick recovery from UPS overload events, and transformer-block spaced outlets protect equipment with input transformer blocks (otherwise known as wall warts) without blocking access to other receptacles.

I purchased this unit to provide backup power to an Infrant ReadyNAS NV network attached storage device and it has worked very well in the several weeks since I installed it and charged the batteries. I have owned several APC backup devices in the past and have found most of them are of high quality and work well.

I've only had one brief power interruption since I bought it a month ago, but it performed perfectly during that outage.
I bought this model for the # of outlets and because it protects not only from AC surges, but also from anything that might come in on both my high-speed cable and phone line connected to it.

The unit was very easy to install, good documentation. The Power Chute software installed quickly and seems to work well. About 2 weeks after installing, the system kicked in while I was working on the PC, result of an interruption in the commercial power. Worked like a charm. Good product, I recommend it.
APC shut down software, Power Chute, does not support the new Intel dual Core Macs.......2006-12-08
APC's Power Chute software does not function with their BackUps powere supply on the new Macs so if you are away from your computer and you have a powere failure, your work will be lost if you haven't saved it and your files may be corrupted when the battery goes dead.

This UPS has a good battery life, shutdown software, network/phone and cable surge supression, and wide spacing for transformer bricks. Half the outlets are powered by the battery.
The only negative I would state is the data plug that connects to your computer. It looks like like the network/phone plugs. It would be nice if it were a USB plug so if you lost the special data cable, you could simply go get another USB cable.
