No relief with this mouse.......2007-12-29
This product is not as comfortable to use as I expected. I had to hold my hand and fingers slightly up, with nothing to rest the side of my hand on... the only portion of my hand resting on the table top is my wrist. The small "lump" bone on outer side of my wrist became very sore, as it was pressing/resting against the desk surface. Unlike the downward motion of left or right-clicking a standard mouse (with the table/desk surface creating resistance) there is no resistance when left or right-clicking and the mouse is always moving slightly when clicked... you have to constantly re-position it. After trying to get used to this for almost 10 days, I went back to my old standard mouse.
Small hands beware!.......2007-12-17
The concept is phenomenal. I felt the difference immediately once I started using it - my arm is sooo much more natural resting that direction.
The cons: it is definitely not made for small hands. I would venture a guess that it is sized for the average 6' white male - which means the hands are huge compared to a more petite woman like myself. It's not terrible to use, it's just not completely natural. Slimmer, with the thumb rest a little lower, and the buttons a little narrower would make it much more comfortable for me.
Also for whatever reason it's much more challenging to hit precision targets - I think that's a problem with their optical technology. I have to go really slowly and deliberately, and sometimes have to to make several passes, in order to hit things like check boxes and pull-down arrows.
Overall an awesome idea...maybe one or two more iterations it'll be perfect. Definitely don't hesitate to buy one - but beware that there are caveats.
great ergonomic solution.......2007-12-16
I have to work hours with the mouse. 2004 I began to have problems with my hand, some kind of inner pain. I don't know if it was the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
After some research, I decide to buy the Evoluent Mouse II. It is very easy and quick (one day) to get used to it.
In my case, the mouse was a success. Therefore I have bought another one: the Evoluent Mouse III.
I recommend to use also a wrist rest and, very important, an arm support (like ergorest).
Why can't all mice be this way?.......2007-12-12
This mouse is designed for the natural position of your hand/wrist. I was using a regular mouse for a long time and I started developing wrist pain. I got this mouse and it has been great! No more stress on the wrist. It does take a little bit of time to get used to it and it seems to be too easy sometimes to click on the right button when moving the mouse (which if you are browsing will take you back to the previous page and is annoying). Overall, however, this is a great, comfortable mouse.

I recently purchased the vertical mouse and so far am quite satisfied. I have tested it alongside the Microsoft ergonomic natural wireless 6000 mouse; I prefer the Evoluent mouse because my arm is still twisted when using the Microsoft mouse. I wrote to the manufacturer and made some minor suggestions. The places where the fingers touch are very smooth. I have purchased some mouse grip stickers from a provider who makes equipment for computer gaming. With the altered hand position there is less vertical force for dragging the mouse therefore there needs to be more for the fingers to grip lightly to move it around.
