Awesome board; Linux beware.......2007-09-10

Although a lot of people have been having trouble to get this to work, mine worked greatly out of the box. It behaves nicely with my Corsair XMS2 2GB recently acquired and with every other piece of hardware I own.

For those of you upgrading and recycling from previous computers, please note that it will only take a maximum of two IDE drives with it. I had to leave out a hard drive because I already had an IDE optical drive and regular hard drive. Although they are cheaper, when upgrading make sure you buy SATA drives from now on (six SATA slots; IDE optical drives are good though).

Besides the boxing being gorgeous on the eye, it also LOADED with peripherals, the best of them being the SLi fan it brings. And for those of you looking for eye candy, it delivers and then some. The blinking red LED below and top of the board makes for some very flashy and cool effects (although I blocked that with a non-transparent case; I'm not much into those night clubs effects flashing my room).

Linux users and *specially* Ubuntu Linux (and derivatives) users should be aware that your out-of-the-box experience will not be so good with it. It will not boot up Xorg on the Ubuntu bootable disc until you flash your Bios with the latest patch (a patch almost entirely devoted to fixing such issue), so make sure who have the bios upgrade at hand before trying it out.

it is a great motherboard but you have to be a little computer literate and you will be great!!! the overclooking and hardware monitoring software "uGuru" is very useful just take sometime and you will get the hang of it... you can update the BIOS with one click (don't need to upgrade the BIOS if you don't have a good reason to do so) it is a dream (mine) board and a great motherboard... if you are a crazy geek who wants to know what's behind everthing and google's everything that is new to you.... then this is the board for you trust me you will be not only a Gamer but a very DAMMN good A+ technician to. the board has everything you want and don't want is has only one PCI expansion slot but it is SLI ready and when in SLI mode you get a boost of 32X (hence the name) instead of 8X or if your lucky 16X with other boards. it has a great cooling system and two fans which pulls out the heat to the back... it is a strickly gaming board.......... so get it!!!!!!!!!!1
