First of all, you're probably wondering whether this keyboard is a good idea. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised. I bought it to solve the specific problem of a standard keyboard being too wide. The mouse is located too far to the right with a standard keyboard because of the numeric keypad, and holding my arm up to move the mouse (hours every day) had strained my shoulder.
This Keyboard and a Logitech trackball solved my problem. I can now rest my elbows on the arms of my chair and move my hand easily and comfortably to the trackball without the constant strain on my shoulder.
I did not know whether I would like the angled keyboard, but I do like it. I would not want to go back to my old keyboard now.
Key feel is excellent and there is a quiet "click" as each key is depressed. I had hoped the Kinesis Maxim's key feel would resemble the IBM Selectric, but they are more like the keys in the old ADB Mac keyboards. They are excellent but not that much better than the keys in my standard white Mac keyboard, which also has excellent feel.
I ordered the PS-2 version by mistake. I would have preferred the USB/PS-2 switchable version. This PS-2 version is $20 less, so I decided to try a USB adapter. The first one, a molded adapter with PS-2 in and USB out, did not work. The second one, which had two cables with PS-2 in and a single plug with USB out, did work. I forget the brand, but it was specified as Mac compatible.
After the first adapter did not work, I tested the keyboard to see if it would work with a PeeCee PS-2 input. It worked fine. With the second adapter I was in business.
I could have left the keyboard layout alone and used the Windows key as the Mac Command key, but I used "System Preferences/Keyboard" to make both "Alt" and "Fn" work as the Mac Command Key, because I am used to the Command key being immediately to the left of the space bar. The ability to reassign these keys is built into OS X 10.4 "Tiger." I have read that earlier versions of OS X require a shareware program to reassign the Command key, although I have heard it is not difficult to get used to using the Windows key instead of the Command key.
So buy either version of this keyboard. Both will work with USB on a Mac. They are both less fatiguing than a standard keyboard and allow the mouse or trackpad to be placed closer to the right side of the keys.

Difficult keying - try soon so you can return it........2006-08-12
I am unhappy with the keyboard, not for the lack of trying for three months. Use it and decide if it works for you, soon.
Pros:
- Keyboard splits left and right OK.
- It can be tilted.
- Closeness to mouse is great (but sacrifices number pad).
Cons:
- All typing keys are very hard to adjust to.
- Only one tilt angle.
- Expensive
- Command keys are in unusual locations.
- Keys require quite a bit of force.
- Keys have large edge ridges -- hard to move over
- Keys feel cheap.
The big insurmountable difficulty for me is that I have not gotten used to the keyboard after three months. I'm talking a-z (querty)! I keep missing keys regularly, especially after hands are coming back to the keyboard.
I have used dozens of keyboards in my life and I usually adjust to the a-z letter part immediately or within minutes. This one I still have not mastered. And I am talking using it without rotating the keyboard (I used it plain, with of without shift). It was even harder when splitting. Another user of the keyboard reports the same difficulty.
I wish I had tried it and given up on it in time to return it to Amazon within the return period. I guess I am too persistent at learning something new. Now I'm stuck with an expensive keyboard that is not helping me.
Message to Kinesis:
- I wish you had a money back guarrantee.
- Please make the keys better -- it's a great idea for a keyboard but needs 'regular feel' keys.

I've been using this keyboard at home and at work for more than two years now, and I highly recommend it. I like to make small adjustments to the keyboard from time to time, depending on how my hands feel, and it's really easy to change the angle between the keys.
Things I like:
No numeric keypad off to the left, so my mouse can be close to the keyboard.
The keys are fairly lightweight and easy to press.
Easy adjustability.
Things I'd improve:
I wish they made a model that required even lighter pressure on the keys. My home Kinesis takes more pressure than the one in my office; both would be improved with a lighter touch.
The office keyboard has two keys that are flaky; neither are important, but still...

A MUST if you have a lap top........2003-01-29
The short and simple of it. I love this little item. I purchased a Canon Digital Elph for Xmas, which I love, and after the first time of connecting the camera to my laptop and going through the software jive and taking way toooo long, I went searching for something easier. Now, I take my pictures, pop out the CF card and slip it in to my Antec CF Adapter and then slap that in my laptop and I have instant access to all my images. No software menus to scroll through. As soon as you plug in the CF Adapter card in your PCMCIA slot, it shows up like another hard drive and list all the jpg's you took on your camera. I purchased this adapter from Amazon about 4 weeks ago for [$$$] bucks, a steal. I see they have increase the price a little since no one else was going toe to toe with them in the price arena. Still a great buy for [a little more money].
Incompatibility issue...........2003-01-21
I have no doubts that this is a great product, if you're running a Windows system or Mac OS 9. But, I found out the hard way that it is (currently) NOT compatible with Mac OSX (I'm running 10.2.3) -- it caused a serious kernal panic forcing me to reboot.
Incidentally, when I booted my system into OS9.2, the card adapter worked beautifully -- I was able to read and write to my compactflash cards very quickly, without a hitch.
I just wanted to alert any OSX users about the incompatibility since sytem requirements are not listed for this item.

I have purchased several similar adapters over the years. They are all the same. So, there is no need to pay more money than you have to. When I purchased this, Amazon was offering it at an unbelievable price, less than 1/2 what I paid for my last adapter. If the cost is still under 2 digits, definitely buy this thing! It even comes with a plastic storage case, a nice little touch not included with way more expensive adapters.
Thanks to these adapters and the low cost of Compact Flash, I haven't used a zip drive in more than a year. I have a card reader on my desktop computers at work and at home, and a PCMCIA card reader like this one for my laptop. I have a 128 megabyte Compact Flash card (also a great deal from Amazon) that I use for shuttling all of my files back and forth, as well as for transfering pictures from my digital camera to my computers.

Received it and plugged it into my laptop PCMCIA port. As soon as the Compact Flash card was inserted, Win98 found the device, installed the driver and added it to my explorer view like another hard drive.
