I purchased this battery at the same time as a Canon Xti. After charging it once I have been using it to take about 500 photos (2GB CF card) many with flash and still have not had to recharge this battery. It has been 3 months and I finally changed the battery because I was going on a trip. Great Product..........

Exact same battery they were selling for 60+ in Circuit City. Been using it for sometime now and I've yet to need to recharge it. Best purchase I've made in a while!
Lifespan shorter than Canon's.......2004-05-04
I bought this battery at the same time I bought my Canon Powershot S30. I've owned it for almost two years now and have used both the Canon battery that came with the camera and this Digipower battery almost exactly the same amount of times.
About a year ago, I noticed the camera would blink the "low battery" icon much earlier when I was using the Digipower battery. It still worked but didn't last as long. Now it barely lasts ten minutes of "On" time. They say Li-Ion batteries do not build up memory or whatever, but the fact remains my Digipower lasts ten minutes while the Canon battery still lasts almost two hours.
I gave it two stars because of the price; you get what you pay for. This Digipower battery is not a "replacement" but a "cheap alternative" that dies after a couple of years of use.

This is indeed the newer Allegro FW400A, and it is working perfectly in a new Dual 2.7 G5 Power Mac. I purchased this card to pamper a Firewire audio interface, which it does well, leaving my native Firewire ports for other things like hard drives, iPods, etc.
Installation was zero effort. Just open up the computer and pop it into an empty PCI slot. Mac OS X 10.4.1 requires no drivers. The ports simply show up as standard Firewire, not even some stepchild class sub-set, just Firewire. Can't ask for more.
But you do get a little more. My audio interface has many power options: Firewire bus power, portable battery power, or AC adapter. Since I was switching to a PCI solution, I thought I'd need to start using the AC adapter. But the Allegro FW400A supplies sufficient bus power to run a MOTU Traveler! I didn't even realize this until after I'd spent a day working with it, then noticed the AC adapter was still sitting in the box. I hadn't expected this since the card has no option to connect hard drive style power leads inside the computer. Apparently, this is not necessary, at least for certain devices. The audio interface seems perfectly happy. It continues to run without a single hitch at low latency (64 samples).
Highly recommended, especially when a good Firewire hub costs nearly twice as much, but your devices would still be sharing one bus.

Don't call Vivitar to help your kids use camera!!.......2007-04-26
Although this is a fairly simple camera, we could not figure out to to record video clips without being hooked to the computer. My grandson emailed to vivitar 2 times with no response. Phone calls sit on terminal hold! The instructions do not explain usage..We still have not figured this out and I feel I am a fairly intelligent person. And to top it off, it takes lousy still pictures.

If you're looking for a camera that does the basics and bare minimal - THIS IS IT! It is a 3 in 1 camera that can record video w/o sound, work as webcam, and a digital camera. The pic quality is really poor and often blurry unless taken up close. Indoor pics come out dark, a lot of bright light is needed because the camera has no flash. It has an auto-off feature which helps to preserve battery life. I bought the camera to sell items on ebay and send email pics. That's all that it is great for. If you're looking for a camera for the kids - THIS IS IT. It's compact, lightweight, and sturdy. Just point and click!
