The Pro Sling Pack is a larger version of Tamrac's popular Photo Sling Pack. It can be carried comfortably like a backpack, but can be swung around to the front to provide quick access to a pro-sized 35mm or digital SLR like a Nikon F5 and D1 or Canon's EOS 1V and 1D with a 200mm zoom lens attached. A well-padded sling strap comfortably distributes the weight, but need not be removed to quickly access photo equipment. Outside, a large mesh pocket is ideal for carrying an energy bar or water bottle, while organizer pockets inside keep a mobile phone, PDA, or photo accessories within reach. A Windowpane-Mesh pocket inside the lid stores filters. Compatible with Tamrac's Modular Accessory System components to customize this pack with Tamrac accessories.

This is my second tamrac camera bag and I have no major complaints. The only reason why I did not give five stars is because I have seen a newer version of this same bag that zippers and think that would be a better buy than three clips. I am able to reach around the clips to grab my small lenses, which is great, but then I think of all the dust and insects that can do the same. Very cormfortable to wear all day loaded with two Canon Rebel bodies and three heavy sigma lenses!!!

The bag itself seemed very nice and well built; however, I had to return it. I'm only 5'2 and a bit top heavy. The pack was hard for me to pull around from my back to my side and then get into and the strap across my front was not very attractive.
Amazon had a much better price than the local photo store. I would try one on for size first and then come back to Amazon to place the order after you know it will fit you correctly.
Otherwise I think most people will like it.
Roomy Well-designed Bag.......2007-05-07
The Velocity 9 is a comfortable easy bag to use when you want to carry a lot of equipment. I've got my Nikon D80 with lens plus two additional lenses, flash unit, filters, and a few miscellaneous things. There's room for my cell phone, couple of pens, and a pad of paper. If you don't need to shlep as much stuff, I would go with a smaller bag. I also have the Velocity 7 for lighter loads. It handles fewer items but has the same basic design as its big brother. I'm really happy with both bags. Great design, easy handling, and excellent value.
Good walk-around bag but not perfect. .......2007-04-01
I purchased the Tamrac Velocity 9 bag after having the smaller Velocity 7 and having a great experience with it for two years. However, I needed to upgrade to a bigger bag after I had acquired some longer lenses, which I wanted to use for everyday shooting situations (short hikes, city exploring, family vacations.)
The pros:
- the design which allows for easy front-to-back manuevering. You can sling the bag on your bag and move it in front for easy ready-to-shoot position.
- it's well made, strong and sturdy with great material and workmanship.
- doesn't scream camera bag as much as the Tamrac tote or backpack styles do. And since it fits close to the body, you feel secure bringing along your camera equipment.
The cons:
- the bigger Velocity 9 is not as ergonomic as the smaller Velocity 7 and you can feel the weight over your shoulder the longer you carry the bag. Since it's vertically slung, the weight is not distributed equally.
- it can be tough searching for certain lenses since the bag is narrow and deep.
- No matter how I tried, the long lens (Nikon 70-200) only fits in the bag, if it's attached to the DSLR. This makes it cumbersome when you need to shoot with the shorter lens.
I'm pretty happy with my purchase but I now only use the Velocity 7 in certain situations where I know I don't have to carry it for extended times. For longer trips or walking, I'll consider getting a Tamrac backpack which might be easier to carry over a long period of time.
