Simply install the fan, attach the thermal detector in the area of concern with the provided thermal tape, and plug in the power.80mm SmartCool Plus is a thermally controlled case fan with remote temperature sensor. Variable Speed Intake Fan - put SmartCool Plus in your case's front fan mount and put the thermal detector near your AGP card, by your CPU, at the top of the case where heat builds up, or anywhere you are concerned may be overheating. SmartCool Plus will increase or decrease its speed as needed, maximizing both cooling and quiet. I bought two of these to replace the smaller volume fans in my gaming machine. They were easy to install and push a heckuva lot more to keep the machine cool. I have a temperature control panel on the front of my machine that measures a few different temps in the box (CPU, case, etc) and I saw a marked decrease in the temperature by at least a few degrees celsius (in the order of 4-5). They are a little loud when going full bore... but compared to other temperature controlled fans I have, they are still much quieter.
