The tripod itself is fine. Very light weight but also substantial. I particularly like the foam rubber grips at the top of the legs for carrying. A minor nit, in this price range this tripod should have a level bubble. They probably cost less than $1 to add. The reason this is going back though is I just don't like the "screw tight" leg locking mechanism. It just takes too long and too much effort to set the tripod up and then put it away. I have opted for the Manfrotto 055MF4 instead with its lever locks (it also has a level bubble and is about $60 more in price).

Well I bought this tripod after much looking and reading. I am moving with my wife to Guatemala to do mission work and have been buying camera eq to venture into photography as well. So far it has met my expectations and was better than I even hoped. I have found no flaws as of yet. Maybe someday I will leave a better review after a year of use. Hope this helps. [...]

Slik 814 Carbon Fiber.......2005-09-13

I own several tripods and have been dreaming about buying a light, packable, sturdy tripod which will support my long lenses (Nikon 80-400mm). The Slik 814 performs beautifully. It was comparatively reasonable and certainly fills the bill. Just days after receiving the tripod I took a 10 day photography trip to New Mexico, Arizona and Utah. I shot almost 1,000 pictures in all kinds of conditions..heat, dust, humidity using the tripod for almost all photos. I chose this tripod over the 813 because it packs several inches shorter, but incorporates 4 leg extensions instead of 3. Absolutely flawless. Incidentally, I teamed this up with an Acratech ballhead which is also great!

These SDRAM are very limited but if you have an old computer they are a must to run some of today's programs. Cost is very high per MB of ram but no other choice.

yes, i got this product in time, fast delivery & i think the sellers are reliable in that matter. however, i bougth the wrong item. My computer doesn't accept 512mb sdram module, it accept two of 256 mb sdram to reach the maximum of 512mb memory Ram. so the problem is this product is not eligible for return, i think, because i ask them for return authorization and they didn't give me one. I guess i just have to save this for future use.
