Asymmetric tapered shape allows you to store the tripod with the head attached. Tripod legs fit comfortably in the narrower end (diameter 13cm - 5.1") and extra space is allowed for the larger volume of the head at the wider end (diameter 15cm - 5.9"). A Good Padded Bag for Protecting Tripod/Head.......2007-12-27
I got this recently as a present for Christmas.
Externally, the bag is nicely constructed, with very good-quality and well-placed zippers. There are no obnoxiously large bogen-manfrotto logos but instead its an indentation on the top cover that doesn't really look like a logo at all.
Function-wise, my 3021 fits perfectly even with the 322RC2 attached. I recommend this to anyone who wants to protect their tripod and the head. However, I don't think this will work on hiking/backpacking activities as 3021 is already heavy by itself and the bag adds 2 more pounds to carry. It's crazy to lug the 3021 on a hardcore-backpacking anyway. :p
Good case.......2007-08-05
I like this case and use it for my Bogen 3180n tripod. It has enough space for my tripod to completely fit inside without gymnastics - as my tripod's head is affixed to the stand. Plus you don't have to unzip it on the side to get the tripod in as it has a large end cap and the tripod just slips in from the end...a nice feature. My only complaint is that it doesn't have any zipped pockets for misc. items.
MBAG80P Tripod Bag .......2007-07-25
I decided on the padded bag just because it provides more protection -both for the tripod and for my back, and I don't think the additional weight is significant (the MBAG80 has the same padding at the tripod head end anyway).
It appears well constructed, most likely isn't waterproof, and the bag with padding is "flexible" -it comes folded up in a box.
The bag is tapered so the tripod and head can be inserted easily without unzipping the whole bag, and a 3021/501 combination fits OK, there is some space next to the tripod legs otherwise it's full.
The Manfrotto color logo and name are small and although the large end of the bag has one huge Manfrotto logo molded into the padding, it isn't that obvious.
The last thing I want is a bag or straps with large white Manfrotto writing on it.
I purchased mine at BH for under 50% of the 3021 tripod legs cost, and the shipping cost was very low. My overall opinion on bags and straps is that (like all accessories) they are vastly overpriced, so all one can do is search out the best price incl shipping.
Bogan/Manfrotto Tripod Bag.......2007-07-04
I have two bogan tripods. My first one came in an inexpensive case, made of heavy nylon, which has been fine, but this new case is a superior product. It looks nice with cool graphics and it's padded in the head area to protect the expensive part of the tripod.
Big Bag - Does what a bag is supposed to..........2007-05-13
The bag is bigger than I expected, it is big for Bogen - Manfrotto 055MF4 Magnesium / Carbon Fiber 4 Section Tripod Legs with 3130 Micro Fluid Head with Quick Release - Tripod Legs/Head Support: 15.4 lbs/8.9lbs with a Bogen-Manfrotto 322RC2 Horizontal Grip Action Ball Head with RC2 Rapid Connect Plate (3157N) head attached. I still have room for my 680 Compact Monopod with room to spare. The bag is a bit bulky but unless I am hiking I would prefer to carry my tripod and/or monopod in hand it would be too much work to remove and replace a tripod if you are on a "short outing" (needless to say). I haven't taken the bag out often enough to comment on it durability in real world application, but it is constructed very well I have no issues with quality of the bag... Time will tell. I would reccommend this bag without reservations.
