Wish you didn't need to buy this, but.............2007-10-09
Got away with using a blower type dust remover on the sensor for several years, but finally had dirt that would not be blown away.
You read so much about the pros and cons of using a swab yourself AND pros and cons of sending your camera in to have it done in the shop, hard to decide which way to go.
Seems I had a pretty typical experience with first use and got SOME of the dirt off and left some in the corners. Didn't want to repeat process so will live with what is left until it gets worse again.
You don't get many swabs with this, but they say you should not clean the sensor that much in order to protect it from damage. Glad I didn't buy a dozen swabs at around $45 until I use all 4 of these and see how I like results over time.
Pouch is okay, but would have liked to buy just 4-6 swabs with liquid for about $10.00. I have no need for the other lens wipes they give you a ten pack of. Although I hear some re-wrap the swabs with these to save money. Not suggesting that, but have heard some do it.
Had to order from Adorama so could not get it shipped with other Amazon stocked items, shipping was a bit high for such a small and light weight item. Ends up just over $25 total cost for 4 tries at a clean sensor.
My first time ordering from them, and they did ship fast and without problems
I understand it can cost around $50. to have it cleaned once in the shop and they often come back with dirt still in place.
Newer camera models are starting to use electronic sensor cleaners build in.. wise move if they work well.
Very nice kit........2007-08-22
I have been using the "Copperhill method" for cleaning my DSLR sensors when they capture enough dust to become a problem. That only happens once every several months of heavy use though, and I was looking for a "kit" style solution to the problem that would fit in my camera bag, and be ready when I felt the need to clean a sensor.
This little kit is a gem. It is exactly the same as the Copperhill method I have been using, but it is assembled in a nice, small zipper case that fits in a pocket on a camera bag. It gives you enough supplies to clean your sensor about 5 times.
If you want to buy bulk PEC pads, and bulk methyl alcohol, you can refill the kit over and over. For it's price though, it's not a bad once per year expense to just buy a new kit.

Expensive but............2007-06-20
I purchased these from my local camera store for over $48. I had some dust and did the blower thing. I was able to remove the dust with the blower but it added a small hair that would not blow off. I purchased these and after the first attempt I was able to remove the small hair. Actually I think it was a micro metal shaving. The problem is I ended up with small light spots. I had to swipe three times to remove them.
Soooo.... It took me 4 swipes total. This could get real expensive if it has to be done more than a couple times a year. I plan on purchasing some pec-pads to attach to the wipes so that I can get serveral uses.
BTW you need the eclipse fluid as well.
All in all I succeesed but would go with some other aplicator and pec pads if I had to purchase all over again.

Expensive but............2007-06-20

digital camera cleaning kit.......2007-12-01
I had attempted to clean my digital slr sensor with an anti-static brush that I had around for years. Little did I realize that there was oil on the brush from earlier lens cleanings. I ordered the Sensor Swab and blower kit after reading up on its performance and I can say that after one simple use all the dust specks and grease smears are gone. A great product that is easy to use. I do suggest reading and following the directions carefully to avoid any problems.
Required kit for dSLR owners.......2007-01-04
I bought my Nikon a couple years ago. Made the whole switch from film to digital after a lot of thought and research. The main thing that bothered me was that you can never upgrade your 'film', you are stuck with the sensor in the camera, period.
But about a year ago I uncovered a problem they talk very little about with dSLRs, DUST. With film, the sensor plane is constantly renewed, with digital it is always the same and dust will get on it if you every change a lens. Since the changeable lens is a big feature you will get dust. I tried cleaning with Q-tips and lens dust cloths but it was hit and miss and ruined a bunch of pictures. Then after research I realised I needed a decent kit to clean. This kit fits the bill and has what you need to clean your sensor and get back to taking the pictures you bought the camera for.

Excellent product.......2007-02-19
Having noticed some spots on my images I cleaned all the lens thoroughly only to find the spots still present, I couldn't see any problems with the sensor but I thought a quick wipe with a dry cotton swob might help but instead it deposited huge amounts of clearly visible streaks and debris all over the sensor and no matter what I did it just got worse. I read about this product online and ordered it thinking it would be of little help now I'd completely screwed up the sensor but to my surprise and glee, it did an excellent job in restoring the sensor to full working order with just a couple of swipes.
I fully recommend this product, especially for those people stupid enough to do what I did to my Nikon D70.
