Useless as a battery charger.......2006-05-29
While the model I bought is similar to this one (CK1005) it is doing the same exact thing everyone else reports. I tried charging all my rechargable batteries a couple of times with this charger and NONE of them work in my digital camera! At first I thought it was my camera until I put two ordinary AA batteries in it and it worked fine! What a waste of money. I'm buying a better more reliable brand. Thanks everyone for your reviews, otherwise I wouldn't have known what was going on!
Rapid Charger for Batteries (Olympus Digital Camera).......2006-03-07
This is the charger I expected. It replaced my existing one that was burned down from 220V electricity (in London). The charger is excellent, for the price range, and even better, because four additional batteries were included in this package. In some stores just a charger itself will cost more than the entire package, including batteries. Strongly recommended.
bad batteries.......2005-11-23
I bought an 8 pack of these batteries to use with my Monster brand battery charger. I thought there was an incompatability issue until I started researching this brand of batteries. They would "charge", appear to have a full charge. Within a day or two of just sitting on my workbench they were dead. If I used them right after charging they worked for a few minutes then die. These batteries SUCK.

I have an Olympus digital camera and I use these batteries for it. They not only last a long time, they keep taking a charge. I have no problem with it at all. I take a lot of pictures, and often forget to turn off my camera. I have three sets of 4 batteries(my camera takes 4 batteries). I rarely have to dig into the third set...no matter how many pictures I take. I highly recommend this item. It has served me well for a long time...it'll be 2 years in December 2005. Also, the charger...and the spare batteries are priced great!
Battery exploded and ruined my digital camera.......2005-02-09
I bought these with my digital camera a little less than 2 years ago and looking back, these are absolutely horrible. The worst being last week when one of the batteries exploded while in the camera.
This being my first set of rechargable batteries I didn't know what to expect. Like everyone else has said, these things get very warm during charging and they do not last very long. At least not in my digital camera, which is an Olympus C-4000. They have absolutely zero shelf life. Don't expect to use them a day or 2 after you charge them. If I could have given them 0 stars, I would have.

This product is definitely worth the price. The pictures came straight from the camera and scanner and filled the screen as expected, without having to resize of the photos. This made an awesome Christmas Gift.

UPDATE Nov. 22, 2007: All frames continue to perform well, as described below. The frame in the office is turned on Monday morning and then left on until Friday evening. We don't use the remotes so their poor quality isn't an issue for us.

After looking at digital photo frames for the last 2 years, finally took the plunge with this MemoryVue 1040. And it has been a good plunge!
Bought 3 of these elsewhere - 1 for home, 1 for office, and 1 as a gift for a parent. Loaded an 8gb USB flash drive with more than 3000 photos for each one, including more than 800 images from a recent family reunion (more than 130 people from across the country).
Have only used the frames for photo slide shows, and the display of photos is all this review covers (not the frames other features: music, video, calendar, etc.)
Pros:
- The large size is a big plus.
- Image brightness and contrast are easily adjustable for all situations, and it can be very bright
- Easy to set up
- Very well packed so will arrive in good shape if shipped
- Does not need to be attached to computer to work
- Accepts USB flash drives and standard memory cards SanDisk 4 GB Cruzer Micro with U3 ( SDCZ6-4096-A10, Retail Package)
- Good price for what you get
- Automatically resizes images to fit the frame
Cons:
- Remote not well built (keys stick on all 3 frames I bought)
- No setting for random display of images
- When turned on, slide show starts with same image and goes through in order
- Instructions to change frame not clear (see mfrs web site)
- USB flash drives stick out from side of frame
If you use a USB flash drive and are concerned about aesthetics, because the USB key sticks out beyond the edge of the frame you will want to get a drive that is black and does not have an LED in the tip that lights when there is drive activity - as you will see it. The shorter the drive the less it will stick out. Or, you can cover the drive and LED with black paint. This is not an issue if you use other types of memory cards. We used USB flash drives as they are easy to share with others who may not have multi-card readers.
The 3000 images we loaded included slides and photos from the early 1900s that had been scanned and digitized by ScanCafe (Highly Recommended - get those photos and slides out of the basement or attic and share them with your family!).
Having a mix of new and old photos has been a real treat. Puts a smile on my face all day long.
Be careful about putting one of these in your office, as it is seriously distracting.
A digital photo frame, when accompanied by a memory card loaded with pictures, is an incredible gift.
Highly recommended.

Nice eyepiece - can be adapted for normal telescopes too........2007-07-02
This eyepiece is actually a 7mm eyepiece. I use mine with a 1.25" adapter offered by Borg with my TMB 115 telescope.
It's got a nice wide field of view, with great on axis sharpness, very good off axis sharpness, and good contrast.
