Good system although a few design flaws.......2007-08-29

This Tablet PC is a decent system. There are plenty of reviews, just search for compaq 2710p. I will focus on the problems I have encountered.

When in the tablet mode, I ma having issues with the ambient light sensor. It is located on the bottom of the screen, left of center when in Laptop mode. When you convert it to tablet mode, that sensor ends up right where your arm is when writing. This makes the screen fluctuate between bright and dark. They could fix this by having the tablet mode orient the screen opposit of what it is currently, that way the ambient light sensor would be in the upper left.

Secondly I have some issues with the pen. When pointing and clicking with the pen, the cursor tends to be directly below the pen, versus where the pen is pointing. I hold the pen at an angle, like you would with a real pen, so I have to adjust my aim because the cursor isn't where it naturally feels like it should be. I also couldn't find a way to re-align it.

Lastly, when you are in tablet mode and you switch from portrait to landscape, it orients the screen so that where you plug in the power and ethernet is facing toward you. I know that you would typically be wireless and running on battery, but sometimes you may need to be plugged in. That is when the cable is really in the way. It would have made more sennse to orient it the other way by default.
