2+ Years and Still Great.......2007-12-03
Most expensive monitor I have ever purchased, but it was worth every penny. After 2+ years (I can't remember exactly), the picture is still very sharp, and I have had no problems using VGA with my PC or DVI with my Mac. I was unable to find a satisfactory DVI 2-monitor solution, but I think that running 2 different resolutions simultaneously is a DVI limitation. Check on it though.
The other thing I really like is the maneuverability. I got a 22-incher with just tilt at my office, and its immobility kills me. I am always moving this thing up or down and tilting to accommodate my varying posture. I also just today figured out how to rotate the monitor for use in portrait orientation. On the Mac it's an option in the display preferences panel. So now it is great for reading large type PDF files as well.

After 1 year - still totally AWESOME........2007-11-12
I bought this a year ago for my wife because it pivots. She does a lot of writing and the portrait configuration is absolutely killer for word processing. I wasn't prepared for what a monitor of this clarity, brightness, color fidelity, and ultimate resolution would do for my video editing. My pictures were just BEAUTIFUL through this monitor - 3 dimensional and very detailed. I fell in love and now use it as much as my wife. The pivot software isn't automatic (i.e. you must manually select the software to pivot the display). This increasingly a non-issue as pivot functionality is built into more and more OSes and video card drivers.
After 1 year, sill no dead pixels, excellent brightness and even-ness of illumination. I'm a very satisfied customer.
Monitor Can't Be Beat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2007-09-01
I'm very happy with the quality of this monitor, it arrived quickly and in perfect condition. I have a 17 inch by samsung but this 20" model is brighter and much more vivid than the 17 inch model. The color is beautiful, the clarity is superb and it is so bright that I have to turn the brightness down quite a bit. I have no regrets and am considering buying a second at these bargain prices. I paid 1300 for my 17 inch several years ago, so for around 350 this 20 inch is truly a bargain. As for the complaints from the "graphic artists" who reviewed this monitor; I think you should have known and must be well aware that a graphic arts model is going to cost you way more than @350 dollars, go and spend the thousand plus that a graphic arts model costs and stop comlaining. For general web use, photo editing, and watching movies this model cannot be beat, and it does not have the grotesque "super glare screens" that all the new models are coming out with. You can watch it in landscape or portraite mode, raise the height and adjust the tilt for better viewing. I'm very happy with my purchase and would gladly buy it again.
at native resolution, screen will not fit within monitor, no swivel.......2007-08-09
This review would have been a 5, except for 2 reasons: 1)I bought it for the swivel so I could work in landscape. I am hoping I cans buy the swivel/height adjusting stand and replace the fixed stand I have. 2)In native resolution (which is clear and great), the windows screen comes off of the edges of the screen (so that I have to move the screen back and forth in order to see my clock, or get to the scroll bar. So I run it at 1280x1024, which makes some of the text slightly fuzzy (they are crystal clear in native resolution). I am a newbee at monitors (always had a laptop), so if anyone can address either of these questions, it would be great.
excellent monitor.......2007-07-30
This is my 2nd SyncMaster 204B monitor as I'm now using a dual-monitor system. I've had zero problems w/ this one and my previous one and the image quality is solid.
Contrast/Color: good - while I don't have a color calibrator for the monitor, I've done my best at color-matching it w/ my Canon i9900 printer and I'm happy.
White Balance: wish I had more control over this but I can't seem to fine-tune it as much as I'd like.
Bottom Line: Monitor works great for photo editing, office work, and good w/ games too (although I'm not much of a gamer anymore). Works well w/ XP and Vista and of course the DVI input is the way to go. I also like the 4:3 ratio monitors so if you want widescreen, look at another monitor.

This was a refurb that meet and passed expectation. Purchased for my son's high school intermediate and advanced photography classes, it has features that render it easy to use by amateurs and yet the features desired by professionals. I bought this so that I could get more of the moon into view with the Celestron NexImage camera.
The Bad:
Quality control is pretty poor on this item. The threads aren't very precise or cross-threaded (perhaps the Neximage) so I couldn't tighten down the lense to the bottom of the Neximage. I also see something hanging from the side of one of the internal elements in a manner that partially overlaps the lens element.
The Good:
This thing is dirt cheap at $24.
