Functional but poor use of technology.......2007-10-07
Yes this unit works are advertised but the service needs work. The Traffic Network people them selves have several issues to resolve.
1) Construction zones listed are incomplete or not up to date.
2) Traffic backups are inconsistent in reporting some are missed while others are listed well after the backup has cleared.
3) Traffic accidents are not updated in a timely fashion this makes the service pretty much useless.
As stated before the unit itself is not the problem it is the service provider that bites.

The device works very well when you are in an area that supports traffic information. Like on major highways and interstates near major cities. If your not then it doesn't notify you. However, it may still get you around traffic if you see it ahead and can detour to an exit. This does not always work if your not somewhat familiar with the area. Other than that it's pretty cool. I think the yearly subscription fee is a little high.

I looked at all the reviews on Amazon seriously before I bought this, but even though there were mixed reviews I decided to go for it anyway. I also feel mixed about it. Sometimes it works great and I've avoided traffic with it, but sometimes it's off. At least once it's told me there's slow traffic when there hasn't been, and hasn't warned me when there has been slow traffic. Usually it gets it though, especially when there's an accident. Not a bad item, I'm not sure it's worth the money or the renewal, but it's not bad.

While I am in a Metro area it works great. Too bad the technology hasn't gotten to the point where it will work everywhere.
It picks up all the traffic in Portland as well as I can see how the traffic is in Seattle while still in Portland.
Re-routing feature is effective, sometimes a little slow to report when a traffic incident has been cleared up. But if you use it in conjunction with radio traffic reports it is a real handy tool.
Only complaint is that you have to run it with the power cable plugged in, all the wires get a bit cumbersome.
Overall well worth the price and has already saved me significant time on the road.

I bought this with a C340. No problem in set up. I travel mostly between Cincinnati and Columbus and both cities have decent coverage but travel even on major highways outside radio reception of a large city and it won't get anything. If you live away from a large city and won't travel much to one, skip it.

Great product if you live in California where it is illegal to mount anything on the windshield, including non semi transparent decals. This device intercepts your radio antenna cable and taps it for the antenna feed to the Garmin GPS unit. There is no noticeable effect on FM radio performance. If you have installed your own car radio then professional installation not required, but if you don't want to chance scratching up your knuckles or dashboard have it installed by a professional. As others have mentioned it is only as good as the information it receives and if you live in a area that is covered, here in LA that is not a problem.

Quickly updates on traffic issues, construction, and accidents. If it affects your current planned route, it has an icon which allows you to see the severity and determine if you want to calculate a new route to avoid the incident. However, it's only as good as the data fed to it... and once in a while it has bad information. Overall though - it's a helpful add-on to the GPS (I have a Nuvi360) and is correct more than it's wrong.

I have one of these in both of my cars and I move the Nuvi back and forth. They have saved me in Baltimore/Washington traffic multiple times. Unfortunally they are not perfect and don't always know about backups, but neither are the other traffic info. outlets. When it does know about traffic ahead,it warns you so you can look at the map of the delay and then it gives you a rerouting option. I can only assume that as the data collecting improves so will the info that the reciever gets. Well worth having if you live in an area with alot of traffic.

I also purchased the GTM 10 for use with my nuvi and I have a German car (Audi). The installer tried to use an adapter but finally had to give up as he said that none of the adapters worked. Guess I'm stuck, but reading some of the other reviews, it appears that the real time traffic interface doesn't work that well anyway. I love the nuvi though.

I picked up this piece for a friend over in Mexico who still uses an older digital camera which takes the xd memory card. Otherwise there was no way to view the photos taken, including from Ground Zero over five years ago, which photos she had never seen until now.
Browsing around this magnificent and myriad amazon, I discovered this connector which works like a charm and gets'er done quickly. Just plug it into any USB slot with your xd card loaded and you are good to go. I explained to my friend how to ask permission from the skittish, oppressive and weak Windows/Intel environment before yanking this piece out of the USB slot, and I hope she will remember before causing addressing trauma to her or someone else's computer.
A great tool for anyone still running the xd cards. Couldn't be better.

Cheap, works well, transfered tons of digital pictures in Hawaii quickly.
Get one if you don't want to risk messing up your storage card or camera. I messed up a camera by pluging a storage card into the wrong slot of my PC and with this unit that problem goes away.

So much easier than hooking up the camera with a cable to the computer! Just remove the xd card from the camera and slide it in the reader and plug it into the usb port. It may be a bit slow when you get up to about a Gigabyte of files to transfer, but I love the convenience! I would buy it again!

Downloading my Olympus digital camera to Olympus Master was a total pain but with this little memory stick, and the lgb memory card no matter how many pictures I take downloading is quick and almost instantaneous. Well worth the price and small enough to carry in your camera case.

UPDATE 12/25/07: The frustrating slowness of this reader finally drove me to search for a faster solution. I discovered, however, that hi-speed readers with a dedicated XD slot are rarer than hen's teeth. Mostly you'll find "XD compatible" readers that require an adapter for XD cards-which is great if you're in need of another small part to lose. No thanks. At last, though, my search came to an end and I'm happy to direct you to the perfect XD card reader... you'll find it right here: Edge All In One Reader with Xd and Sdhc It has blazing USB 2.0 transfer speed as well as dedicated slots for XD and many other card formats. (I was beginning to think that the XD card format may have been the reason for the slow transfer speeds, but now I know that's not true.) About the only possible downside to this reader is the short USB cable: at just a few inches long, it stows nicely in a slot along the side of the reader, but it obviously must be kept close to your intended USB port. Without exaggeration, I'd estimate that this reader is at least 10X faster than the Olympus.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Flash drive convenience and snail-like speed--that sums up this Olympic XD Card Reader. Believe the other reviews that complain about slowness. If you've got a dozen or so pics to download, no problem. But if you're in the habit of dumping a half gig or (god forbid) a full gig of photos onto your computer, then be prepared to wait... and wait... and wait. Very disappointing as compared to the high speed card reader that I use for my Memory Sticks, which is compatible with many other formats but (alas) not XD.
